HC asks lawyer to self-inflict injuries to prove charge

New Delhi, June 16: A lawyer, who accused his wife of injuring herself to entrap him in a criminal case, was at the receiving end today with the Delhi High Court, in an unusual order, asking him to self-inflict the injuries before the police to prove his charge.

The Court directed the lawyer, Arjun, to undergo such an exercise before the police to ascertain whether the injuries sustained by his wife, Neha, were self inflicted or not.

Vacation judge Justice S N Dhingra said that the anticipatory bail plea of the lawyer will be heard only if he was able to prove the allegations against his wife.

“If the applicant is able to show that these injuries can be self-inflicted on the same part of the body as were found on body parts of the wife, this court shall consider this application of bail,” Justice Dhingra said.
