Delivering judgment on the encroachment of Gurukul Trust lands on the city outskirts, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday directed the State government to constitute a committee to settle issue.
A Division Bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Pinakini Chandra Bose and Justice Afzalpurkar, advised the government to allow those who had applied for regularization to continue to stay in the lands. The Justices also asked the government to procure new land from the money collected from the applicants of regularization and hand over the same to the Gurukul Trust.
The High Court also directed the government to evict those who have failed to apply for regularization of encroached lands and hand over the same to the Gurukul Trust. (NSS)
