HC adjourns Red Sanders case

The Andhra Pradesh High Court today adjourned the hearing on the disposing off rare red sanders case till two weeks and directed former Handloom Minister P Shankar Rao, who filed a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a CBI inquiry into it, to file a additional affadivit by then. Mr Shankar Rao has named Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy as one of the respondents in the writ petition along with Forest Minister S Vijayarama Raju, Environment and Forests Special Chief Secretary, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Environment and Forests department principal secretary.

The petitioner had alleged in his PIL filed on March 22 that issuance of GOs in March last year and disposal of this red sanders had caused huge loss to the public exchequer. Mr Rao also sought a direction to the CBI to conduct preliminary inquiry as the issue involved was more than Rs 1,800 crore. UNI
