Kochi, April 26: The Kerala High Court today accepted the views of tantric experts against opening the Lord Ayyappa shrine at Sabarimala throughout the year and widening the 18 holy steps, saying it would not intervene in matters concerning religious rituals.
A division bench comprising Justices Thothathil B Radhakrishnan and Sateesh Chandran had earlier directed the Travancore Devaswom Board, which manages the shrine, to give a comprehensive report on the matter after ascertaining the views of tantric experts.
Following this, TDB convened a meeting of tantric experts and obtained their views. They unanimously opined it was not desirable to open the shrine throughout the year and alter the character of the temple by widening the holy steps.
The bench said it would not intervene in matters concerning religious rituals.
