Hyderabad, April 09: Nearly two years after the major fire mishap in the High Court building, the state government has begun taking steps to set up a fire station in the High Court.
The state government has given its sanction to set up the new fire station in the High Court, besides giving its consent to start five more fire stations in different locations of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Officials of Home department said the new fire stations will come up at Salarjung Museum, Maheshwaram, Madhapur, AP Legislative Assembly and Kukatpally.
The decision to sanction funds for them, was taken after the meeting conducted by late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in 2009, after a major fire accident took place at the High Court.
According to the officials of AP State Disaster Response and Fire Services, the state government was asked to sanction 16 fire stations in the GHMC jurisdiction.
“The new fire stations are coming up almost after 25 years in Hyderabad,” a senior official of APSDRFS said. The 16 fire stations will be set up in three different phases with the upcoming six fire stations, to begin with.
