Paris: After guiding Belgium to the quarter-finals of the Euro 2016, skipper Eden Hazard has dubbed his performance in the side’s 4-0 win over Hungary as ‘best’ in his international career.
Belgium remained in possession throughout the match, with defender Toby Alderweireld putting his side ahead by scoring a header in the 10th minute.
Striker Michy Batshuayi doubled his side lead in the 78th minute before Hazard struck a brilliant solo goal to put Belgium in a driver’s seat.
Yannick Carrasco then provided his side with a perfect finish by scoring a goal just few seconds before the full time.
Reflecting on his side’s overall performance, the Chelsea star insisted that Marc Wilmots’s men were almost perfect and that it is hard to improve on their display.
“Maybe it was not the best opponent but they were still a tough side to play against. It will be hard to improve on the performance as it was almost perfect. We played well,” the 25-year-old was quoted as saying by goal.com.
Belgium will now lock horns with Wales for a place in the semi-finals of the European Championship.
Describing their next opponents as `tricky`,Hazard observed that his side didn’t manage to create many chances in their previous game against Wales and, therefore, called on Belgium to study them well.
“Wales are a tricky side to play against; we met them in the qualification games. We didn’t have many chances; they have a very compact unit and a great player up front. We will study them well,” he added. (ANI)
