Hyderabad: A hawaldar of the Indian Army was killed by his elder brother at Uppal, Hyderabad. Elder brother Gangaratnam (42) allegedly stabbed Bandari Yesu (36) five times around his abdomen before leaving him dead. Dispute over a 100-square yard property at Uppal is said to be the cause behind the killing. The property dispute was continuing for around three years and an argument over selling the property reportedly ended in the murder.
According to police, the victim, a hawaldar in Indian Army was working in Bhopal. His elder brother is working as a clerk with Survey of India in Hyderabad. Both jointly purchased a 100 square yard plot at Seven Hills Colony in Uppal and built a house around 11 years ago.
Now Yesu wanted to sell the house, while his brother was opposing to the idea. On Wednesday evening, both of them had drinks and an argument over selling the house erupted. They first hurled stones at each other, then Gangaratnam picked up a knife from the kitchen and stabbed his brother.
Hearing the screams family members came to Yesu’s rescue and rushed him to a hospital, however he succumbed to injuries in the night.
Uppal police has registered a case against Gangaratnam and search is underway.
