Have on-site emergency plans, factories told

Hyderabad, July 31: Ranga Reddy district collector M Dana Kishore has stressed the need for sustainable development through adoption of safe work practices.

Addressing a workshop on ‘On-Site Emergency Planning for Small Scale Chemical Process Industries’ here today, he advised factory managements to be prepared to face emergency situations.

The workshop was jointly organised by the factories department and the National Safety Council, AP Chapter with the support of Ministry of Environment and Forests.

Managements should formulate onsite emergency plans for their respective factories and make them known to all concerned, Dana Kishore said. He warned of action against the factories that failed to take safety measures.

Later, he released a booklet on emergency planning.

Director of factories G Balakishore elaborated the activities of the department in promoting safety awareness in industries and emphasised the need for emergency preparedness and mock drills. Joint chief inspector of factories PM Chandra Mohan welcomed the gathering. Joint chief inspector of factories Ch Kishan, deputy chief inspector of factories, Ranga Reddy, Y Mohan Babu, National Safety Council and AP chapter honorary secretary V Sashi Kumar were among those present.
