Hasanath college announces free admission for children of Imams and Muazzins

‘Education is a controlling grace to the young, consolation to the old, wealth to the poor and ornament to the rich’. These were the visions of Late Alhaj Adam Ebrahim Sait, founder president of Hasanath Educational Society and Group of Colleges.

Hasanath Educational Society was established in the year 1971. Today, they are running more than a dozen institutions in Bangalore. Hasanath College for women, Dickenson Road, Bangalore has been rated as one of the top ten commerce colleges in Bangalore as per the survey done by India Today magazine for the academic year 2012.

The courses offered by the college include: BBM, BCA, B.Sc. and B.A. The college also offers vocational and job-oriented courses, such as office management, secretarial practice, travel and tourism management, typewriting, shorthand, tailoring, embroidery and painting.

It also provides a special course, International Air Transport Association (IATA) - training for ground crew and cargo in Airline Companies. Over 150 students trained by the institution are well-placed with various Airlines services. Founders’ Knowledge Centre, a library which is said to be one of the finest in Karnataka and is highly appreciated by the Bangalore University.

Karnataka Muslims, approached Mr. Abdul Razack Adam Sait, president Hasanath Group of colleges and tried to find out the uniqueness of the institution. Mr. Sait said that “The process of admission is unique and quite different from the rest of the colleges in Bangalore. Whereas all colleges allot seats on the basis of merit, in our case it is exactly opposite because we prefer those girls who have secured the lowest marks when it comes to seat allotment. Those who pass in second class would be considered next and the first class pass student would be opted last.”

Mr. Sait said that, we take more number of students who are academically weak, under-privileged, deprived and also denied by other sections of the society. We strive and endeavor for the social upliftment and empowerment of women from backward classes. “When you educate a man, you educate an individual; whereas, educating a women, is to educate a generation,” Mr. Sait expressed with pride.

“Unlike the other institutions, it is not merely the well honed input that enters the portals of Hasanath, it is the raw product that happens to be left out at lower levels of education which is encouraged. Our concern is for unprivileged students who seek remedy for mortification of the loss suffered by them in their early years of education. And it is the hapless section of youth for whom the doors elsewhere seem to be closed, who seek redemption, we welcome them with compassion.”

Like yesteryears, this year also we are providing free seats for the children of Imams and Muazzins for higher education. There is no seat limitation for the admissions, said Mr. Sait.

Mr. Sait said that, the society is also planning to start motor vehicle driving classes, with a lady instructor, at the women’s college.

Regretting the situation of Muslims in India, Mr. Sait said that, “The downfall of Muslim community is because they are far behind in education from the rest of the communities. They need to overcome illiteracy and should produce prolific leaders for better future of the community”, he urged and added that “lack of interest and less involvement in social, educational and political activities is also a reason for the backwardness of Muslims.”
