Haryana threatens to reduce water supply to UP

Chandigarh, March 15: Haryana Government today threatened to cut down water supply from Tajewala head to Uttar Pradesh if it is not given its full share from Agra and Gurgaon canals.

Haryana’s Irrigation Minister Ajay Singh Yadav told said that as compared to Haryana’s share of 224 cusecs from Agra and Gurgaon Canal, only 80 to 100 cusecs was being released by Uttar Pardesh.

Haryana’s share in water form Tejawala head was two- third while Uttar Pardesh’s share was one-third, he told reporters on the sidelines of the budget session of the State Assembly here which concluded here today.
“The release of water is the prerogative of the state government and in case Haryana is denied its full share, then our government would take similar step,” he said.

He said that Haryana was being supplied less water since 1995, which was a serious issue.
