Haryana STF arrests two wanted criminals

Gurugram: The Haryana Special Task Force (STF) on Friday arrested two criminals wanted in several cases, including the robbery of Rs 20 lakh from a liquor trader’s office in Gurugram this year, police said.

STF Inspector General of Police Saurabh Singh said a team that included Deputy Superintendent of Police Kaptan Singh and Inspector Sonu Malik arrested Anshul and Ankit.

Acting on a tip off, the STF put up a barricade on the Bahadurgarh-Najafgarh road and signalled two youths on a bike to stop. But instead of stopping, the pillion rider opened fire on the police team.

“When the STF team chased the bike, one of the accused again fired at the team and jumped off the flyover after our men fired in the air in retaliation,” Singh said.

But Anshul who made the leap suffered a fracture.

The arrested men were accused of looting Rs 20 lakh from the office of liquor trader Chander Bhan in Pataudi, 26 km from Gurgaon, on May 7, along with their accomplices Karamjeet and Vikas.
