Haryana Police DSP attempts suicide

Panchkula : A Deputy Superintendent (DSP) of the Haryana Police today tried to allegedly commit suicide by shooting himself with a revolver after he was named as an accused in a case of triple murder in Hisar district.

“DSP Bhagwan Dass shot himself in the head from a gun and was critically injured. The incident took place at the police guest house in Panchkula where he was staying. Later, he was admitted to a hospital in Panchkula,” DCP Panchkula, Anil Dhawan said.

Dass, police officials said, had been named as accused in the triple murder case in Shekpura village in Hansi in Hisar district.

The complainant, in the triple murder case had alleged that the DSP had provoked a group to open fire on the day of Holi, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Hansi, Rajesh Kumar said today.

Subsequently, Dass and some others were booked by the Hisar police in connection with the triple murder case, under relevant provisions of the law.

After the incident at Hansi, the DSP was transferred from Hisar district to Panchkula police headquarters after his name figured among the accused.

Three persons were shot dead after a group of about 20-22 persons allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on another group of about 7-8 persons in the village in the Hisar district two days back following an argument between the two sides over some old matter, police had said earlier.
