Chandigarh: With the standing crops, especially paddy, being damaged in several parts of the state due to 3-4 days of rain in the past week, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday assured farmers that a special ‘girdawri’ (revenue assessment) would be conducted to assess the damage to their crops caused by the rains.
Khattar assured the farmers that adequate compensation would be paid to them.
“They need not worry on this account,” Khattar said after visiting the agricultural fields of a farmer in Karnal district, around 120 km from here, on Friday.
The rainfall from September 22 to 25 damaged paddy and other seasonal crops in many parts of Haryana.
Strong winds in some parts flattened the standing crops which was almost ready for harvesting.
