London, August 10: The unassailable scripting success of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter, the movies become the real money lifters as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince reaches close to a billion mark.
The movie grossed nearly $400 million worldwide in just five days which is yet another example of Hollywood movies continuing their tremendous business all over the world.
The sixth sequel to the Harry Potter series turns out to be the second film this summer following Transformers 2 to recover its production cost in less than a week i.e. over 200 million dollars.
In the first week of a big budget film’s release, the studios get about 65 percent of the gross, the remaining goes to the theatres. While Harry Potter is going for 950 million dollars to 1 billion dollars, Revenge of the Fallen could finish its global run with near to 850 million dollars.
