Hyderabad: Harrowing tale of Sadeq who is wallowing in Saudi desert

Hyderabad: Syed Sadeq of Hyderabad is living under pathetic condition in Saudi Arabia, for 11 months. He has not taken a bath since then nor trimmed his hair. He has not been paid for the last 11 months and he barely gets any food to eat or water to drink.

Syed Sadeq is the resident of Talab Katta in Hyderabad. An illegal agent trapped him and trafficked into Saudi Arabia. Sadeq reportedly paid the agent Rs 1 lakh. He landed in Riyadh on June 24, 2016. From there he was taken to a remote desert area and was forced to take care of the camels of a Saudi employer.

As reported by TOI, whenever he tried to complain, the kafil reportedly beat him up and inflicted him with burn wounds with a hot metal rod.

Some Hyderabadis living in Saudi Arabia came across Sadeq and were shocked to see his condition. They informed Sadeq’s family about his situation. Sadeq’s father Syed Aliuddin approached MBT leader Amjad Ullah Khan who wrote a letter to external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj describing Sadeq’s situation.

Kafil visits Sadeq every fortnight only to count his camels and leave. He brings only 10 litres of water for Sadeq and some food. The kafil would also beat him with a belt if he wanted to leave or asked for his salary or food and water.
