Mumbai, March 26: Harman Baweja has been seen at two Rajasthan Royals matches. Since he has not acted with team co-owner Shilpa Shetty, it was a bit of a mystery what he was doing cheering for her team.
It was largely believed that he supported the team as he played for Rajasthan in his cricket film Victory. But the actor reveals his reason for supporting RR, “I know Shilpa and she’s a good friend. But I have known Raj (Kundra) longer and we have the Punjabi connection. So it was quite natural for me to cheer for the Royals. I really like their team and think they have a great side.”
Harman’s love for the game isn’t restricted to cheering; he knows quite a few players who are part of IPL, “I was lucky to have interacted with some international players during the making of Victory. Since then I have kept in touch with them. In fact, most of them are playing IPL in various teams, so it’s nice to hear from them once in a while.”
He feels that the Royals have a good chance of making it to the finals, “I think they are the underdogs and have a good chance of pulling a surprise on everyone. I fancy their chance of playing the finals.” Among his favourite players in the team are Adam Voges and Abhishek Jhunjhunwala.”
He concludes with, “I think Raj is quite an asset for the team as he’s terrific in terms of making strategies and planning.” Harman is now making plans to go watch them play the next match.
