Stating that they have not looted Rs one lakh crores like YSR Congress chief and Kadapaq MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and did not involve in any scandals like the ruling Congress party, TRS senior leader and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao on Wednesday asked why they (TRS leaders) should by arrested by the police.
Speaking to mediapersons here before launching Bus Yatra to Mahbubnagar this morning, the TRS leader said they were fighting for protecting self-respect of the people of the region. “There was no question of stepping back even if we are arrested and sent to jails. If police want, they could arrest us (20 legislators) first, but they should not touch our party activists,” he added.
Stating that Information & Public Relations Minister D.K. Aruna will be held responsible if anything untoward incidents take place on account of the bandh in the district, the TRS leader demanded that the minister procure police permission for the Sadak Bandh. He also criticized the government for rejecting permission for Sadak Bandh though they had assured the government that the bandh would be peaceful.
Stating that one MLA was made incharge of every ten kilometer road for organizing Sadak Bandh, Harish Rao warned that the government would face people’s wrath if it tried to suppress the peaceful agitation. The Telangana ministers, Congress legislators will be held responsible for unpleasant occurrences. He exhorted the party activists to make the Sadad Bandh total so that its impact of the bandh jolted AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi. He warned that the government would have to own responsibility if anything untoward happened if the police tried to obstruct the TRS agitators by filing bindover cases. He said they would feel proud of being jailed for the noble cause of separate Telangana State. (NSS)
