Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao today directed the officials to focus on providing civic amenities to the people in NBT Nagar under Banjara Hills area.
Visiting the area as part of Swacch Hyderabad program along with TRS MP K Kesav Rao and officials, the minister interacted with the local people. After inspecting roads, markets which need immediate repairs, the minister asked the officials to repair them. He also asked the people and small vendors to keep their houses, markets and streets clean. “Officials should create awareness among the people to throw garbage into the bins provided for the purpose, he said.
The residents complained to the minister that no official visits the place to check storm water and drainage leakages and the dirty water stagnates on the roads. The minister said, “We are ascertaining the problems and pressing the staff to address them immediately. He said he would look into their demands like removal of HT wires and replace the same with other to avoid the problem and construction of a building for women.
Harish Rao asked the officials to provide hospital, weekly market besides addressing the issues of civic amenities. The minister said every house should have a drinking water tap. The government will see that people get drinking water everyday, he added. The Minister also revealed that Rs 14.50 crores will be allotted for laying drinking water pipeline to eradicate drinking water scarcity in NBT Nagar. He also said Rs 1.20 lakh will be allotted to solve the problem of high tension power lines and directed the officials to repair the roads in NBT Nagar immediately. He said a special camp would be conducted on Monday to provide life insurance scheme to the labor, who were more in number living in the NBT Nagar Basti. He also assured the Basti people on setting up an e-library and a gym.
