Harish Rawat files nominations from second seat

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat and state Assembly deputy speaker Anusuya Prasad Maikhuri were among over 300 candidates who filed their papers today on the last day of nominations for the February 15 polls in the state.

Rawat, who is contesting from two seats this time, filed his nominations from Haridwar rural today. He had filed his nominations from Kichcha on Wednesday.

State Assembly deputy Speaker Maikhuri filed his papers from Karnaprayag constituency.

Other prominent candidates to file nominations today were state BJP Spokesman Munna Singh Chauhan from Vikasnagar, his wife Madhu Chauhan from Chakrata and sitting MLA Rajendra Bhandari from Badrinath.

The total number of candidates to file nominations today was 308 taking the grand total till date to 720.

Scrutiny will take place on January 30 whereas February 1 will be the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
