In an effort to get wide publicity across the country, Telangana Government has taken a team of national media to the prestigious turned Kaleshwaram project in Karimnagar district. Being considered lifeline of North Telangana, this project is he conglomeration of 19 small projects to irrigate about 18 lakhs acres on completion in 13 districts.
Irrigation Minister who took the national media to the project site, later through power point presentation apprised them of the project whose capacity is put at 141 tmc capacity. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao aim is to irrigate 1cr acres in five years and designed the project through WAPCOS.
Claiming that it is a world record to complete the big project he said that Medigadda barrage is first one and 60 per cent works completed and building 19 reservoirs, 22 lifts, 21 pump houses and 139 mw pumps. As many as 6000 engineers, 25000 workers involved in the project works and used 3.10 cr cement bags against 4.20 cr cement bags required, building 1832 km distributor canals, digging 1531 km gravity canals and building 230 km under water tunnels.
