TRS MLA T Harish Rao demanded an all-party meeting on the power problem immediately.
Seeking clarifications after the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy gave a reply to the debate on the power problem in the Assembly. Harish alleged that it was because the government paid a higher rate for the coal purchased for power generation, thousands of crores of rupees loss was being incurred. He said while coal was available at Rs. 3,500 a ton, the government purchased it for Rs. 5000 and questioned the need for paying higher price. He has aleged that the Chief Minister was misguided by the officials. He said the Chief Minister became responsible for the suicides of farmers by irregular supply of power. He said under NPDCL power was supplied for 7 hours only to 2 feeders. He reminded the house that farmers of 90 villages laid a siege to the office of the Nizamabad SE because of the power problem.
Harish Rao has alleged that the Chief Minister and the minister Ponnala have done gimmics of figures in the house, without stating the factual situation. He has reminded the Chief Minister that he wrote a letter to him about the irregular payments made to Lanco and GMR companies and demanded that cases under section 420 be registered against them.
