Harish asks Geetha Reddy to apologize

Hyderabad: Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao today said that congress member Dr J Geetha Reddy should apologize for her remarks against the deputy speaker Padma Devender Reddy when she was in chair.
Geetha Reddy cannot make harsh remarks against the chair and it must be removed from records, he said. She should apologize and then talk on any issue, he said adding that the former should learn to give respect to the Chair. He found fault with the congress leader for using some words against the chair by raising the issue of atrocities against women and rape of girls and irregularities in double bedroom houses and welfare schemes in Medak district.
Geetha Reddy, however, denied making any derogatory remarks against the chair and said Harish might not have understood the words she spoke in English. Geetha Reddy said that the government should prevent atrocities and suspend CI and DSP in connection with rape case of Veenavanka in Karimnagar which is home district of finance minister E Rajender. Mere suspension of SI and constables is not right, and the government should take stern action to prevent recurrence of such incidents, she suggested. When the Deputy Speaker, who was in the chair, asked her to conclude, Geetha Reddy warned of staging a protest in the house if she was denied a chance to speak further. ‘Being a woman I feel it an embarrassment to see such incidents and even deputy speaker who is a woman should take up the issue’, she said. When the rape victim rang up before the incident, the concerned SI refused to go to her rescue saying that he was on bandobust duty which is shame, Geetha Reddy deplored. She also accused the government of taking no steps even after the two missing girls from a hostel in Warangal were found dead.(NSS)
