In separate cases, two housewives committed suicide due to alleged harassment by their husband.
In Kachiguda police limits, 45-year-old Rukmini committed suicide by consuming bathroom acid after she was allegedly beaten up by her husband Narasimha. According to police, Narasimha was a habitual drunkard and used to harass his wife for money. On October 30, he came to his house in Ratna Nagar in inebriated condition and asked his wife to give some amount which she kept for chit fund. On refusal, he beat up Rukmini. Felt humiliated, she consumed acid. She was immediately rushed to Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital where she died on Friday night.
The Kachiguda police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against Narasimha.
In another case, 47-year-old B Narasamma committed suicide by setting herself ablaze. She took the extreme step at her residence in Viqarabad of Ranga Reddy district on Friday night and succumbed at the Osmania General Hospital on Saturday. She was allegedly being harassed by her husband Jangaiah. The Viqarabad Police have registered a case of suspicious death and began investigations. (INN)
