A 26-year-old housewife committed suicide allegedly due to harassment for additional dowry.
The victim, Asiya Begum, resorted to the extreme step by setting herself ablaze at her residence in Kalapather on Thursday afternoon. She was admitted to the Osmania General Hospital where she died a few hours after admission. According to Kalapather police, Asiya was married to one Abdul Raheem in 2010 and had two children. However, she was allegedly being harassed by her husband and mother-in-law for more dowry.
Police began investigation after registering a case under Section 304B against Asiya’s husband and in-laws. (INN)
