The Co-Operative Banks’ SC, ST, BC Employees Union has demanded the Ananthapur district cooperative Bank officials to stop the transfer of Deputy General Manager K. Surekharani , whi is a dalith, to Dharmavarm as Branch Manager.
In a press release, union president Kondru Ramdas stated that Surekharani had approached the High Court in the issue. The High Court had admitted the petition and given interim stay of her transfer. He alleged that following this, the officials were harassing her to withdraw the case from the High Court. Surekharani had submitted memorandums to the officials but they did not follow the rules and regulations in the transfer. Though she had submitted to memorandums to Ananthapur District Collector, State Cooperative Bank, NABARD officials, the officials have failed to stop her transfer.
Union leaders threatened that if the Bank officials failed to stop the transfer and harassment of the dalith officer, they would launch an agitation with help of dalit associations. (NSS)
