Now, with the setting up of a helpline in a move to curb the corruption among the police officials, first of its kind in the state, the city police have introduced a corruption control telephone number calling on which public can register their complaint if harassed by the men in khakhi.
The calls made on 0821-2418500 will be directly monitored by city police commissioner M A Salim. The line will be made open to the public between 10am and 9pm.
At the time when many people complaint about cops demanding money from them, they often left with no option as well as no concerned officials to complain to. Now with the corruption control number, people can directly register their complaints against the cops demanding bribe.
“The helpline has been introduced owing to frequent complaints of harassment by some police officials,” Salim said and added that action will be taken against the cop if found guilty of the accusation.
Salim in a press release has said that a research conducted by his office shown that a two-way communication is very much necessary to curb the corruption. He said his department has also received suggestions on training police personnel on developing soft skills.
Salim, however, charted out the norms to be followed by the complainant before lodging a complaint. A person firstly has to identify himself and provide the necessary information, including contact number and telephone number.Courtesy:Karnataka Muslims
