As a tribute to independent India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Children’s Day has been celebrated in India since 1959. That is because Pandit Nehru was very fond of kids, and the affection was mutual as they called him ‘Chacha Nehru’
While the International or World Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20, the day is celebrated in India on November 14 to commemorate the memory of Jawaharlal Nehru.
The day is celebrated across India to increase awareness of the rights, care and education of children.
