Rajya Sabha Member and Senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao today said that he will go on a ‘Mauvna Deeksha’ (silent protest) at Gandhi Bhavan for seeking Medhomadhanam, from tomorrow. Addressing a press conferene here, Mr Rao said, “I will continue the agitation till the announcement of the date for holding medhomadanam (meeting with party cadre).” Mr Rao said, ‘I had informed to AICC, incharge of party affairs in the state Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister of Overseas Vylar Ravi, APCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to conduct medhomadhanam programme to strengthen the party at the grassroot level ahead of the general elections scheduled to be held in 2014. Explaining that no party leader has taken the initiataive to hold the ‘Medhamadhanam’ programme so far, Mr Rao said as the party cadre was in a confusing state at the moment, the programme would give up a filip to them. He said though the Dharmana Prasada Rao committee had given its recommendations to find ways and means to refurbish the party, it was silent on the issue of corruption. The Congress leader also stressed for filling up the nominated posts and said the Chief Minister should take into confidence the services of party senior leaders and seek their suggestions for strengthening the party. He asked the Chief Minister to remove the poster of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on the 108 vehicle and the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s photograph was enough.
Answering a question on whether he favoured continuing the ministers in the cabinet after they received notices from the Supreme Court in the illegal assets case of Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the fire brand leader shot back ‘the High Command has to take a decision on the issue.’ Asked to clarify on the reports that he was saying that Chief Minister was a covert to Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr Rao said ‘it is not my statementpeople are thinking on those lines.’ UNI
