Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) on Thursday expressed anger against the provocation by a city police constable. The party registered its protest against hurting religious sentiments, creating communal atmosphere in the city of peace. Ex-Corporator Amjadullah Khan Khaled lodged a complaint at Dabeerpura police station and demanded action against a police constable who allegedly uploaded an inciting picture on his Facebook timeline.
In a complaint lodged with Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy, MBT leader and ex-Corporator Amjadullah Khan Khaled alleged that one police constable, Surender Singh, has posted a highly objectionable picture on his Facebook timeline on 11th January. The picture, created through Photoshop, shows Lord Hanuman standing on the historic Charminar and the height of Bhagyalaxmi Temple raised up to first floor of Charminar monument with objectionable slogans. He was giving the message of a new dawn to his friends.
He lamented that the presence of such workers in police department could become a question mark on the intention of the government.
“This picture is highly objectionable and has been aimed at inciting communal hatred in our State of Telangana. As you are aware that the historic Charminar houses a mosque on its second floor called as “Masjid-e-Charminar” and the monument has the symbol of ‘Panjatan-E-Pak’ at several places. Therefore, trying to depict Charminar as a Hindu temple is nothing but an attempt to spoil the city’s peace and communal harmony,” Amjadullah Khan said in his complaint.
Stating that a similar picture had led to communal clashes in the past, the MBT leader demanded that the Police Commissioner take action against the constable. Amjadullah Khan has also lodged a complaint against the constable in the Dabeerpura Police Station.
