Hamilton pledges to reclaim title

Sao paulo, October 19: Outgoing world champion Lewis Hamilton said on Sunday he was pleased to see that another Briton had won the title following Jenson Button’s success in the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Hamilton, who started 17th on the grid, made the most of an early safety car intervention to steer his McLaren Mercedes through the debris of an incident-packed race to finish third behind triumphant Mark Webber of Red Bull and second placed Robert Kubica of BMW Sauber.

“Big congratulations to Jenson and his family – he has done a terrific job and he deserves it and it is nice to kept he title in Britain. I am hoping to take it back next year, if I can, or as soon as I can in the future,” said Hamilton.

The 24-year-old added that he felt he had learned a huge amount in his year as champion and had grown as a driver and as a man.

“I have not been given the same opportunity as in the previous two years and it was strangely quite nice to come to Brazil this time with no pressure on my shoulders,” he said.

“It has been a real experience for me. I have enjoyed it and I am sure Jenson will, too.”
