Moazzins (caller for Namaz) playing vital role in Islamic Society

There was a report published in Siasat’s edition dated 22.02.2011 where the article was aimed at the responsibilities of the moazzins with lesser remunerations.

That article or report was based on ground realities. Lat me tell that in every mosque, moazzin plays a vital role.

Keeping aside all their personal griefs and problems, they always make it a point to report to the mosque on time in order to deliver the azaan (call for namaz) right from the dawn to dusk i.e. five times a day from Fajar to Isha.

As far as the Imams are concerned, they always report late. Then too, namazis have more respect for Imams instead of moazzins. The responsibilities of moazzins are too much including the cleaning the mosque, taking care of the electricity, water supply and also see to it whether toilets are in good condition or not to avoid the criticism from the members of the trust who look after the managing of the mosque’s day-to-day affairs. The namazis are, on the other hand, an irresponsible lot.

They even don’t bother to keep the siparahs in order after its recitations. This responsibility also falls on the moazzins. Now look at the remuneration of the moazzins.

His salary is meager where he has to adjust all accounts be it marriages, diseases, deliveries and other family related engagements.

It is high time that the trustees of the mosques should consider the plight of the moazzins and moreover, may Allah give them the rewards for their service rendering for the house of Allah.
