A video went viral on social media in which the parody of Suroor Barabankvi’s poem ‘Ham to shayar hain ham sach nahi boltey’ was recited.
It is a beautiful satire depicting the journalists of today, who do not speak truth due to fear of persons in power. They are opportunists, who are ready to sell their words in the market of falsehood. When the public is eager to know the truth, they seal their lips.
The parody goes thus:
Ham sahafi hain ham sach nahi boltey
Jane jaan sach pe kyun itna israr hai
Sach ki azmat se kab ham ko inkaar hai
Ham sahafi hain aakhir usi qaum ke
Jiska har fard bikne pe tayyar hai
Ham hain lafzaun ke taajir ye bazaar hai
Sachche moti kabhi ham nahi rooltey
Ham sahafi hain ham sach nahi boltey
Fasl aati hai jab hifz-e-pindaar ki
Sach ke izhaar ki
Ham haqaeq se nazrein churaye huwe
Maslihat ka janaza uthaye huwe
Sar jhukaye huwe
Laut jaate hain maazi ke sahraaun me
Baith kar gham-e-zaat ki chhaun me
Sochtey bhi nahi, bolte bhi nahi
Sehme sehme huwe log milte hon jab
Har taraf qauf ke phool khiltey hon jab
Jaane jaan kam se kam aisey mausam me ham
Harf-e-haq to kuja, lab nahi kholtey
Ham sahafi hain ham sach nahi boltey
