A store called ‘Halal Sex’ Shop offering ‘sensual aids’ is set to open in Makkah, the Islam’s holiest city.
According to IBTimes, the opening date has not been revealed but sex shops catering to Muslims in Makkah will stock 18 “Islamically approved” adult-related products.
Moroccan Muslim Abdelaziz Aouragh, the founder of the Makkah shop revealed that he consulted a Saudi Arabian Islamic cleric who had told him such a venture would lead to ‘the improvement of the sexual relationship between husband and wife’.
“Our products [do] not include inflatable dolls, but products that increase feelings of sensuality and improve the atmosphere between the couple in [their] sexual relationship,” Aouragh told Alyaoum24.
Typically, Muslims are viewed as not very sexually active, and many believe Muslim women are repressed sexually within their marriages and Aouragh wishes to change the negative stereotypes.
“It is not true that Muslim women are seen only in the kitchen and seen only wearing the veil – we should also highlight love.” “There is a lot of love and respect Islam has for adult women.”
Halal is often used in reference to foods and drinks that are permissible for consumption by Muslims; it also guides the use of objects under Islamic Shari’ah (law).
According to Alyaoum24 report, the first Halal Sex Shop opened in Turkey in 2013. But earlier reports of halal sex shops in different European cities with large Muslim populations have been discredited.
