Govt. of Saudi Arabia has desired the Hajj pilgrims to postponed their visit to Saudi Arabia this year due to the expansion project of the Holy Shrine. They have requested Govt. of India to reduce the number of Hajj pilgrims to the extent of 20%. The Hajj pilgrims of AP are worried about this. It is said that Central Hajj Committee as no intention of reducing its quota.
It is likely that the Hajj quota of the private operators may be reduced, CEO of Hajj Committee Mr. M.A. Hameed told that there is no written communication from the Central Hajj Committee. A quota of 7322 was allocated for the Hajj pilgrims of Andhra Pradesh. In addition to this 250 pilgrims were selected on waiting list. Mr. Hameed assured that all those Hajj pilgrims who have been selected by state Hajj committee need not worry. They would get seats out of the vacancies of other states. It is said that in connection with the expansion of Haram Shareef accommodation problem has become serious. It is possible that great category pilgrims may be shifted to Azizia category.
