Mumbai, October 24: With oil spill on Goa airport runway affecting operations, the first ever Haj flight from the state has been rescheduled, sources said.
“The first Haj flight, which was scheduled to take off from Goa airport tomorrow morning, has been rescheduled following last night’s incident,” Goa airport sources told PTI here tonight.
The Goa airport was scheduled to operate the Haj flight for the first time after Goa was declared an embarkation point by the Central Haj committee this year.
The airport was scheduled to operate the first direct Haj flight carrying 300 Haj pilgrims tomorrow at 7 PM.
The fresh date of operating the flight would now be worked out by the Central Haj Committee, sources added.
A tanker carrying 6000 litres of air turbine fuel (ATF) turned turtle, spilling the oil on runway and leading to its partial closure.
