Haj Camp to begin from Sept 27

Hyderabad, September 08: The Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee has finalised the arrangements for the Haj Camp scheduled to being from Sept 27 at Haj House Nampally.

At a meeting held at Haj House here on Wednesday, the committee has decided to ensure that the pilgrims going for Haj this year do not face any difficulties at the camp. The meeting presided by Haj Committee chairman Syed Khaleeluddin Ahmed was attended by other membes including former Vijayawada Mayor Maleka Begum, Syed Raza Hussain, Shaik Shareef, Rahmatullah Khan, Mohammad Habeeb Ahmed, Mahmood Hussain Engineer, Alhaj Mohammad Pasha and Mohammad Baig. The members made serveral suggestions for the succesful conduct of the Haj camp. In the meeting several sub-committees were also constituted to deal with the specific tasks.

The Haj Camp will begin on Sept 27 and the first flights of Haj pilgrims will leave for Holy Madina from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Sept 30. A total of 6,285 pilgrims from Andha Pradesh and 700 pilgrims from neighbouring Bidar and Gulbarga districts of Karnatana, will be going for Haj from Hyderabad. Whereas, 325 pilgrims of Anantapur district will leave for Haj from the Bengaluru International Airport. As many as 24 special flights will be operated from the RGIA at Shamshabad by the Saudi Airlines. After performing Haj, the pilgrims will start returning from Nov 13 to Dec 01.

The Haj Committee chairman informed that the state government has fastened the process of allotment of 10 acres of land near Pahadi Shareef for the construction of new Haj House building. The committee has also adopted the resolution requesting the central government to complete the allotment process at the earliest.

The members have also passed a resolution demanding that the Central Haj Committee empower the state committees to select the new pilgrims in place of those who cancelled their pilgrimage. Further, they demanded that a members’ quota should be introduced in the State Haj Committee.

In view of rainy season, during the Haj Camp a temporary tent would be installed on the seventh floor of Haj House where the pilgrims keep their luggage. The Haj Committee has also asked the government to provide a generator on permanent basis.

The pilgrims will be administered Meningitis vaccine at the Haj Camp and also at the Princess Asra Hospital. Similarly, vaccination would be done at the district through the voluntary Haj societies and concerned representatives of those districts.

The committee hoped that the passports of pilgrims who are still in the waiting list would be issued in the next few days.
