Srinagar : Black flags with ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ (ISIS) written on them were waved by protesters outside Jamia Masjid in downtown Srinagar on Friday.
The demonstrators were protesting against the Village Defence Committee (VDC) whose member allegedly killed a woman and her minor son in Rajouri district of Jammu region.
The state government had raised the VDC to deal with militancy in the conflict struck region.
Meanwhile, clashes broke out between demonstrators and the police in Pulwama after youth planning to raise a memorial for the two LeT terrorists, who were killed yesterday by the Indian Army, were stopped by state government officials.
Tear smoke canisters were lobbed at the masked protesters, who responded with stone pelting. (ANI)
