Former MLA and Congress senior leader Marri Sashidhar Reddy on Monday strongly criticised Governor ESL Narasimhan for not taking any action on open violation of Anti-Defection Law.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, Sashidhar Reddy pointed out that Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who got elected on TDP ticket, would complete six months as minister in the cabinet of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on June 16. He also pointed out Talasani had announced that he had submitted his resignation letter to Speaker Madhusudan Chary. However, he said that Speaker did not accept Talasani’s resignation and remained silent on the issue despite being served notices by the Hyderabad High Court. While asking the Speaker to take a decision on immediate basis, he said that it was the Governor’s responsibility to ensure that constitution is followed in the State.
Sashidhar Reddy said that the Telangana Congress would lodge a formal complaint against the Governor to President of India Pranab Mukherjee.
Speaking about GHMC elections, he said that GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar did not begin the work on delimitation of wards. He said that the GHMC have no roadmap to increase the divisions from 150 to 200. When would the GHMC submit its draft delimitation, receive objections and finalise the new boundaries? he asked while adding that only five months are left for the deadline set by High Court to complete the election process.
