Maharashtra governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao today called upon citizens, civil society and private sector to join hands with the government in the rehabilitation and welfare of the disabled jawans, former servicemen and their families, war widows and orphan children.
Complimenting the private sector organisations, government and semi-government organisations and schools that have made it a tradition to contribute to the Armed Forces Flag Fund, Rao called upon corporate houses to take up the cause of Sainik Welfare as a part of their corporate social responsibility.
Rao was speaking after inaugurating the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund Collection drive at Raj Bhavan here today.
The armed forces flag day is observed every year on December 7 to honour the martyrs and acknowledge the services of the serving and retired personnel of the Armed Forces.
