Kolkata, July 26: In the wake of acute power crisis in West Bengal, Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi today urged the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to cut down the use of floodlights at Eden Gardens.
Speaking at CAB annual awards ceremony, Gandhi, who was the chief guest, said, “We should be aware that around the city there has been an acute power crisis. CAB should do a review of their floodlight system in Eden Gardens.”
“When no match is played, the intensity of flood lights remains too high causing a lot of power consumption. They should refrain from using floodlights unnecessarily,” Gandhi, known for his voluntary power cuts in Raj Bhavan which is next to Eden Gardens, said at the famed ground today.
