Hyderabad: In order to carry out speedy settlement of cases of waqf properties, it has been decided to increase the honorarium of Standing Council. Waqf Board Chairman Mohammed Saleem on Saturday conducted a meeting with the Standing Council of Waqf Board. Secretary Minority Welfare Syed Omer Jaleel was specially invited for the meeting. The meeting reviewed the progress regarding cases of Eidgah Guttala Begumpet, Lanco Hills, Anwar ul Uloom and other key waqf properties.
After consultation with the lawyers, the Board decided to issue final gazette notification in connection with Guttala Begumpet land on Monday.
There is a dispute between the Waqf Board and private parties since 1995 with regard to ownership of the land. On December 29, 1988, the erstwhile AP Waqf Board notified 93.11 acres in Sy. Nos. 1 to 9 of Guttala Begumpet as waqf property. The notification was challenged by private parties who claimed that the land belonged to them.
