Gurugram again: Doctor goes to buy milk for Iftar thrash by goons

GURUGRAM: In yet another anti-Muslim hate crime, a 30-year-old practising paediatrician was allegedly thrashed by a group of unidentified goons.

According to Times Of India reports, the incident took place on Friday night near Ardee city of Gurugram in Haryana when Dr Nurul, who lives near Wazirabad village in Sector 52, went to buy milk for iftar.

“I work as a paediatrician with a private hospital and at present preparing for DM-Cardiology exam. I was returning after buying milk for Iftar in my Baleno car. Suddenly, two men came in a white Fortuner and started abusing me without any reason. When I told them that they are on the wrong side of the road, they called 8-9 more men who brutally thrashed me with sticks. I tried calling police but due to injuries I fell unconscious on the road side. Later, the police reached on spot and rushed me to the Civil Hospital,” Nurul told police.

Dr Nurul has received multiple injuries on his head, face, eyes and legs and other parts of the body.

“They thrashed me brutally and I could not understand the reason. I heard two of them saying that I am a Muslim and they should leave otherwise riots will take place. They fled after leaving me on the road side. I don’t know any of them. I want strict action against the accused,” Nurul told TOI.

Sector 53 police station registered an FIR was against unknown assailants under Sections 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly) and other relevant sections of IPC.

Noteworthy, this is not the first time such anti-Muslim incident has taken place in Gurugram.

On March 21, members of a Muslim family were mercilessly beaten with iron rods and hockey sticks by goons on the day of Holi in Gurgaon’s Dhamaspur village, for playing cricket.

The incident came to light after the horrifying video showing women pleading for help went viral on social media, causing outrage across the nation.
