Gurgaon: Sector 55 residents in Gurgaon have lodged a complaint with Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHVBN), accusing the discom of inflated power bills with adding ‘wrongful’ arrears to the residents.
City Cooperative Society resident in Sector 55 who chooses to stay anonymous said, “We receive bills once in every two months. According to the latest bill, I am supposed to pay Rs 33,000. The minimum bill I get during the winter doesn’t come over Rs 8,000. The discom has again added some arrears to the bill. Last time also the discom had slapped arrears to the tune of Rs 23,000 on us. My father had to go to their office and get the matter sorted. My current bill reflects consumption to the tune of Rs 10,000 and the arrear portion of Rs 23,000 from the old bill. I went to the discom office to solve the problem.”
Another resident Sukhbir of Sector 55 has also alleged about the inflated power bills. He said, “I have received a bill of Rs 50,000,” adding that “this is the amount I used to pay during the summer months. In winter, we don’t even use air conditioners and fans, so how is it possible that I am ending up paying the same amount now.”
Reacting to the complaints, DHBVN, Superintendent KC Aggarwal of Gurgaon circle said, “I will tell the official concerned to fix the issue. If there are cases of inflated bills, we will get them corrected,” TOI reported.
