Gurgaon, May 04: Cases of land fraud are rampant in the real estate haven of Gurgaon and it’s usually farmers who claim to be the victims. But this time, they have emerged as suspects in a case of land fraud.
The Gurgaon revenue department has found that over 600 acres in Rohak Gujera village between Bhondsi and Sohna was sold four times over.
Sources said a total of 5,400- acre land is under the scanner, though the fraud was committed only on a part of it — 600- 1,000 acre.
“ We got to know about it during checking of records.
We conducted an inquiry and submitted the report to the divisional commissioner last month. He has stopped the sale of land in that area,” district revenue officer P. D. Sharma said.
Sources said the value of land could be over Rs 1,000 crore and property dealers could also be involved.
“ In some cases, parts of the land was first sold by villagers to property dealers who, in turn, sold them to multiple buyers,” Sharma said.
Sources said the land was sold at much higher price as it is just 20 km from the IGI Airport. “ It seems the buyers are still not aware of the fraud. They will get to know once the date of possession comes near,” Sharma said.
An FIR for cheating and illegal practices was lodged against a policeman, Patwari Gulshan Kumar, in Sohna. He was suspended.
He has now joined back.
