Gurdwara panel official booked for molestation

A Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Managment Committee (DSGGC) official was arrested for molesting a teacher at a committee-run school here, police said Tuesday. The panel has dismissed the charges as “baseless”.

Gurubaksh Singh, who is the chairman of the DPGC school at Harinagar in west Delhi, was arrested from his residence in Tilak Nagar Tuesday morning. He later got bail from a district court.

“The incident was reported Sunday,” said a police official.

In her complaint, the victim, who is in her 40s, alleged that Singh, 59, molested her last month after finding her alone in a class room.

“Singh allegedly abused her and held her neck. He allegedly touched her inappropriately after which she raised alarm and ran out of the room,” a police officer said, quoting the victim’s statement.

“She has also accused him of using abusive language for her and other employees,” the official said.

A statement given by DSGMC asserted that the charges against Singh are “false and baseless”.

After getting the bail, Singh demanded an inquiry claiming he has been implicated in a false case.
