Gurdwara Committee seeks legislation against attacks on minorities

New Delhi: Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee strongly condemned the attacks in which minorities are targeted and demanded to make strict legislation to stop such incidents. Committee Chairman Sardar Manjeet Singh Ji on Monday demanded legal security to minorities on the lines of Dalits.

It must be noted that recently the delegation sent by Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh has returned which apprised the committee of the situation there. According to the delegation, anti-Sikh campaign is being run in Shillong through which some anti-social elements want to expel Sikhs from the region.

According to Sardar Manjeet Singh, the mob which attacked Sikh colony was given money and alcohol by some political leader. Manjeet Singh said Congress government had tried to pass a bill in 2011 to stop communal riots but the bill was not passed due to some loopholes. The bill had provided special rights to minorities. He demanded to pass the said bill and ensure the safety of minorities.
