Gunmen withdrawn for YSRC leaders

The State government has issued orders withdrawing gunmen to YSR Congress former MLAs Srikant Reddy, Amaranth Reddy, Srinivasulu and others.

Seventeen former MLAs, who got disqualified for defying their party whips and voting for no-confidence motion, were surprised when they did not find their gunmen on Tuesday morning.

Reacting sharply, YSR Congress has termed withdrawal of gunmen as a part of a wider conspiracy. Srikant Reddy has said that all of them had given up their MLA posts for the sake of farmers and it was unwise on the part of the government to think that they would be afraid if gunmen were withdrawn. He said it was the support of the people that would safeguard them at all times.

Stating that people want Jagan to lead the State, Srikant Reddy and Srinivasulu said that the YSR Congress would sweep all the 18 Assembly and one Lok Sabha seats in the ensuing by-elections.

Meanwhile, Ganreddy Ramu Naidu, a prominent leader of Congress from Gajuwaka of Visakhapatnam district on Tuesday joined the YSRC in the presence of Jagan. Along with him, some 48 Congress and TDP leaders also joined that party.

Meanwhile, YSRC leader Kakani Govardhan Reddy has alleged that a “useless government” that could not fulfill its promises to people was continuing in the State. Speaking to newsmen in Nellore, he said that it was shameful on the part of Congress leaders to criticize YSR, who brought the party to power twice.

Referring to the transfer of the ACB official Srinivasa Reddy, he said that it was sad that an honest officer was made a scapegoat in the battle for supremacy between the Chief Minister and the PCC chief. He alleged that the Union government was using the CBI and the State government the ACB against their opponents. (NSS)
