Philippines, December 10: Gunmen today seized 65 people in an area of the southern Philippines where communist rebels are known to operate, the army said.
Major Michelle Anayron, an army spokesman, told AFP a “criminal gang” abducted the residents of a village in Agusan del Sur province on Mindanao island.
The area is a well-known hotbed of communist New People’s Army (NPA) guerrillas, but Maj Anayron gave no other details about the gang.
