Gun Culture: A threat to peaceful atmosphere of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The statistics shows that the ‘Gun Culture’ is on the increase in the peaceful city of Hyderabad.

On the one hand, there is an increase in the number of licensed guns and on the other, weapons are being brought to Hyderabad in large number illegally.

Recently, a few incidents have occurred which indicate that ‘Gun Culture’ is on the rise in Hyderabad. A few cases have been registered by police which include elders and youngsters in equal number. For instance, a resident of Fateh Darwaza, Sajid shot a fire in the area to terrify his opponents. In another incident, a 60-year-old man used a gun to horrify his opponent for getting his 2000 yards plot vacated. Police filed a case and arrested him.

In the same manner, police arrested a youth from Bihar who had come to Hyderabad to sell guns for Rs. 8000 to Re. one lakh.

It may be mentioned that earlier, gun licenses used to be provided to politicians, industrialists, businessmen, police officials and ex-armymen but these days, many persons are violating the rules for obtaining gun licenses.

It is an alarming situation for the people of Hyderabad who used to spend peaceful nights in all the seasons.
