Gujarat will give a befitting reply to Cong: Modi

Ahmedabad, August 30: Chief Minister Narendra Modi told the Congress to stop leadership through statements but enter competition in a democratic way because “your jails are not going to ensure any political rejuvenation for you”. He alleged that of late the Congress had now opened a shop called CBI where money was being extorted from the people.

Inaugurating AMC’s new West Zone office building in Bodakdev area on Sunday evening, Modi told the Congress to stay away from insulting the nation’s traditions in Government programmes or else “they will get a reply in the same language, certainly at least from Gujarat,” he said amid loud cheers from the crowd. Modi told the each Congressman owed an explanation to the people for insulting saffron and connecting it with terrorism, the colour which adored temples and the Tricolour alike. He said that even the Britishers would not call people terrorists but the Congress was doing this.

Giving a clarion call to people to teach the Congress a lesson, Modi said the time was coming soon when people would get a chance to give a fitting reply to the Congress on saffron terror remark. He said the Congress had no idea with whom (Modi) they had locked horns by invoking his ire by bringing in saffron terror remark. He reiterated that the Congress must apologise to the people for insulting saffron which he said was sacred as a religious colour adoring temple flags and patriotic as it was part of the Tricolour. “Is it acceptable to you?”, he asked the crowed that responded in a loud “no”.

Earlier, Modi inaugurated the renovated Sardar Patel Bhavan in Danapith where a permanent exhibition on late Sadar Patel was opened besides inaugurating the new general board meeting hall in a new building north of the Sardar Patel Bhavan on the AMC premises as well as a recreation centre and a recreation-cum-commercial complex in the city. Mayor Kanaji Thakore, standing committee chairman Asit Vora and AMC BJP leader Dr Kamlesh Patel were present on the occasion among others.
